Seafood paella at Dali

21 Feb

How does a delicious, steaming seafood paella sound? An ardent Dali fan for years, this is the first time I ventured beyond the tasty tapas and dove into theirs under their signature dishes list.
The rice was fragrant and just right, the consistency just short of a thick soup, and the shrimp, scallops and shellfish succulent and flavorful.

Be warned that it is a giant dish (costs $24) and you are best off sharing it – unless you have a huge appetite and that’s all you are eating.

For first-timers at Dali (and please make it a point to go if you never have!), you cannot go wrong with their tapas.

You have to order at least two per person and I would recommend the Gambas al Ajillo (garlic shrimp), Caldereta Genoveva (braised lamb with almonds and mint essence) and the Queso de Cabra Montañes (baked goat cheese with tomatoes and basil).

For the more adventurous, try the Chipirones Rellenos (stuffed squid in its own ink?), Faisán a la Alcántara (boneless pheasant with mushroom and bacon) and Conejo Escabechado (braised rabbit with red wine, juniper and garlic).
